Reality is catching up with me. Or how else to explain the fact that an album being mentioned on Line 3 contains a song called 'Ligne 3'? Which, by the way, happens to be one of its standout tracks?
Returning to the studio (or the laptop, probably) after a decent, but slightly directionless debut album, Låpsley seems intent to make it right this time. Which translates directly to patient beats, delicate chords landing like huge raindrops, giving her both competent and pleasant voice plenty of room.
It's not as immediate as you might expect, or hope. It perhaps lacks the breadth to make it really good. But for what it is and what is does, Through Water is worth spending some time with.
