Emilie Nicolas makes a kind of smart pop that is constantly bumping against the edges of the pigeonhole. But in the end it's mostly velvet-y and beautiful, much thanks to Emilie's voice.
Stumble upon it, and the first minutes you hear will tell you it's great. But there's a certain something lacking in the songwriting department. There are songs with signature features, like 'God Damn', but they tend to lack control over dramatic composition. So although they touch your heart, they don't grip it firmly. Kind of a missed opportunity, then.
